The Gardiner Mill Cottage Gallery is a museum and exhibition center located in East Hampton, New York. It is situated on the earliest homestead in East Hampton settled by John Lion Gardiner. The property was purchased in 2014 with funds from the East Hampton Community Preservation Fund and is managed by the Village of East Hampton. In 2019, the Village opened the restored Jonathan Thompson Gardiner house as the Gardiner Mill Cottage Gallery for the display of exhibitions focusing on the early Artists Colony and in particular, landscape paintings.
With funds from the Robert D. L. Gardiner Foundation, twenty-five nineteenth century works were initially purchased from the Wallace Gallery in East Hampton. Five additional paintings were donated by the Hilaria and Alec Baldwin Foundation and six more paintings were gifted by Melissa and Terry Wallace.
Aside from our permanent collection, the Museum exhibits works by important Long Island artists, art movements and local interest.
